I did not specify the man as the perpetrator. And you can treat each other poorly without being violent. You can fall out of love or grow apart while still being attracted to each other. The union of two people can by itself become impractical in a multitude of ways.

You don't marry everyone you find attractive, it takes more compatibilities than that. So it is also fully possible and quite normal to divorce someone you're attracted to.
