This article is a year old and it mentions that "400 years of slavery".

 

People twist how long slavery was and how long ago it was to fit their world view.  

 

For example my Uncle was under the belief that slavery ended "200 years ago", he's about 50 years off.  

 

Slavery being "400 years" is a well known misconception.

You're being intellectually dishonest if you can't put the two together.  The only way he could have been any clearer is if he were to literally say that "the black slaves who were enslaved in the US."

Wow.

 

So how long are you guys gonna argue about this?  The US isn't even 300 years old.  400 years of slavery refers to the length of time that the Transatlantic Slavery Trade existed transporting slaves from African countries to places around the world.   It is not a misconception.  It is not an SJW trick.  The term has nothing to do with the existence of the United States. 

 

You guys... man just wow.
