interesting thoughts, John. fantastic games and so many great titles are coming in the next 2 years. 100 % yes in my opinion, Its the golden age of gaming. Why ? Because..
a) GAMER are the focus of many big developers (Rockstar Games and Sony, Naughty Dog, Bandai Namco, Platinum Games ect)
b) Many games with love to detail have much better sales than their predecessors (Persona 5, the new God of War, Yakuza Zero), also japanese games are selling well again (Nier Automata, Monster Hunter World, Dragon Ball Fighter Z, Dark Souls ect). Also remake are very successful (Shadow of Colossus, Crash Bandicoot ect). And Shenmue is back! New IP's like "Horizon Zero Dawn" or "Ni-Oh" have amazing sales figures too :) And the west-and japan games-support is fantastic, in the last - this and next year!
c) 2 friends of mine have a PS4, their first console ever. Yes, the first console! And my sister dont like video games, but wants to play "Detroit Become Human" this month. And she play every week "Ni No Kuni 2" with my console : D Thats a good sign.
d) Many movie fans have a lot of attention for video games currently - the new Spiderman (PS4) will be maybe the best licensed game ever (my prediction). This will make video games more popular, I think. Worldwide.
e) Games like "The Last of Us 2" and "Death Stranding" will strengthen the entire video game industry, 2019. Especially Sony is investing the biggest production costs in games currently (with Rockstar Games) - that is good for all.
f) i think so too - the genre jrpg is back and strong, after the great PS2 Time. Fantastic jrpgs in the last time with Ni No Kuni 2 and Persona 5. Dragon Quest 11 is coming, the next jrpg-highlight. And in future Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Granblue Fantasy and so many more interesting or big titles :) i'm happy about that. Japan is back!
g) The biggest reason: I have never had so much fun, passion and interest in good games - but in the last and next months... oh god, yes! I've been playing since Nintendo 64 / PS1. Thats why.. now its the best time for videogames in my opinion.
Important is: All GAMER must hold together and support high-quality games with much love to details :) This strengthens the games industry. It's such a nice feeling when a video game has a wonderful story, good gameplay and interesting characters :) PS: And the E3 is coming with many new titles/trailer/games & surprises :)
