I know this is going to be unpopular, but...

I want the Halo reboot.
The current saga is awful - somehow Halo has just lost its charm. It used to be about the singleplayer/co-op story just as much as the multiplayer. Now we have passable multiplayer and an awful story. Honestly, I don't care for the crazy/protective Cortana having the mantle thing.

Perhaps it's because Halo moved from a story that revolved around tangible science fiction (humans being less developed than the covenant and the flood being this intriguing intergalactic parasite) to a story that revolves around philosophical science fiction - i.e. science fiction with a seismic philosophical shift (with the Mantle, the Didact, ancient humans etc.) The philosophical side is always something I think should have stayed as history to ponder over.

The art style of Halo is something that used to be so iconic - it used to define Halo. Now, with the GEN2 armor, it's starting to look closer and closer to the generic sci-fi art style that we see in games like Destiny. I want tangible futuristic human armor - that's grimy, dirty and under-engineered. It used to make Halo stand out, with Halo making a bold statement: We always overestimate what the future is going to look like for us, in reality it will still be as grimy, dirty and depressing as the world today. That doesn't mean things don't get better - look at New Mombasa in Halo 2 - that shows that we can develop (within reason) and reach new heights.

The art style pointed to a division between us (the UNSC) and them (them being the covenant). They used energy weapons for their small arms whilst we used ammo based weapons (mostly - stuff like the spartan laser obviously isn't ammo based). They had the crazy amount of ships - we comparatively had a few.

I understand that the Human-Covenant war was finished at the end of Halo 3, but the prometheans were just a terrible set of "bad guys" implemented in an ineffective way. I feel like the art style when it came to their weaponry was off from what it should have been. Halo 4 shouldn't have been 343s first (proper) Halo game. They should have made another spin-off, likely covering events before Halo CE, before trying to make the next trilogy. That way they could figure out how to make a Halo game with (at the time) the current art style and learn to appreciate it before deciding to change anything.

So, in summary, I hope Halo: Genesis is a way out of the dreary storytelling/universe that is the reclaimer saga.
