Well. Some Smartphone manufacturers are still running with LPDDR3.
It would reduce the demand on DDR4 for a short time... But then pricing will increase as manufacturing shifts away from DDR4.
I guess I just like my new and shiny... And it would be a stupidly massive benefit for integrated graphics... At the moment with about 40-50~ GB/s of bandwidth they are good for 720P gaming, double that to 80-100GB/s and 1080P starts to look more realistic.
With that in mind... DDR5 slated for next year.

DDR5 4400Mhz looks bloody tasty... And that would just be the start with potential for 6400Mhz or more.
