Action reminescent of it's past hack n' slash games ? Yes.

The rest of it ? No.

DMC/Bayonetta are now clearly a step above the GOW franchise when it comes to pure hack n' slash gameplay. The pallette of moves you can pull out is MUCH higher in both of these and you're encourage to do so with counters and rewards for pulling out impressive feat ... not in GOW + not being into a 3rd person shoulder perspective permits a faster, more frenetic experience and freedom of view (I seriously dislike the camera placement) cuz yeah ... GOW is WAY slower in that department.

A part of why this game has become so popular isn't because of it's Hack n Slash roots. It's because of it's homogenisation with other cinematic 1st party Sony titles + huge marketing backing and still being an actual really good game (just not for me though ...)

Yes sure, the homogeneization and being a 1st party certainly made PS3 games sell a lot... I guess B2S sold 10M as well right?
