I believe the developers mentioned that they didn't want to make the map this thing that you're constantly checking and tagging to find stuff, a la ubisoft open world games (or most open world games in general) They wanted to encourage exploration and going off the beaten path more freely to find these optional areas rather than using the aforementioned map every other 2 minutes. It doesn't bother me though, the map is kinda useless but its nice to look at the progress or scale of the world or just in what vague direction you should be traveling to progress the main story. |
I support any game that discourages the use of maps. Immersion > Convenience any day. A game shouldn't respect your time - it should force you to respect its. There are positives to negative feedback.
