People said that about The Witcher 3. And MGSV. And Uncharted 4. And Breath of the Wild. And Super Mario Odyssey.
At the end of the day, when the generation is over, it's very hard to choose a single "game of the generation". Think about the last generation. How do you choose between The Last of Us, GTA V, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Portal 2, BioShock Infinite, the Mass Effect trilogy, Gears of War, Halo 3, Twilight Princess, Xenoblade Chronicles, and so many other masterpieces released during that generation? The truth is, there are many games that deserve credit for being important in different ways.
And, of course, how good a game is involves subjectivity.
