Well yeah, but "last few WCs" means at least 4 years ago.

Edit: to make my point clearer, think Argentina. They were 2nd place at the last WC, does that make them favorites for this year's tourney? I guess to some people yeah, but I sure don't think so. A lot has changed, and Argentina right now is complete crap.

Germany were crap before the 2002 WC started and they went all the way to the final so to write any big team off is jumping the gun.
