Russia cannot stand against NATO. Russia with Iran and China fully committed cannot stand against NATO. This is no secret and regardless of what opportunistic story is written on a website talking about the advancements in military technology from the Russian side, i.e. the S-400 air defense system, the fact is that they don't have the ability to defend themselves today against assets we've used for decades in multiple theaters, namely the B-1b bomber being the most recent aging asset used. I wish I could convey to you why I have zero concern because what limited information I know of our untouchable abilities in the air and sea, Russia has a far greater understanding that this isn't a fight they could ever hope to win in any measurable way. 

Russia aside,the bigger picture is the west against the east. China, Russia, Iran and the rest of the middle east as well as North Korea against western allies? A global conflict now and either side has no real advantage unless alliances shift.

However, by greater war, I mean a greater war or at least I hope so, in the middle east because if it breaks out of the area the world stage is so ominous right now with the US trying to cling to power west to east and everywhere in between. Can the US fight war on multiple fronts right now and have a advantage? I'm not so sure.

Any mistep could be disastrous and the bombing of syria the last night was a misguided and idiotic move. I just hope this all settles down as fast as it is escalating. Especially with China and Russia. 

Change every time you type US to NATO and you'll understand why it's not as worrisome as you believe it to be. Article 9 gets enacted and the might plus logistical advantages of 20 plus nations comes to down on Russia and anyone else stupid enough to escalate this further.
