So if you aren't buying a console for future potential releases, then what does influence your purchasing decision?
You are changing the goal posts, that is a logical fallacy. You already lost the prior argument that you presented.
And you made the correct purchasing decision that suits your needs/wants/desires.
Still a long way from that point though. Doom looks like garbage on the Switch, massive compromise on visuals. |
X1X is a good machine, that per MS own decisions with regarding to not make much games themselves and also make games anywhere lost much of the reason to own... and I agree that it may take a long time (probably more than 10 years) but for general market that point will be reached someday.

Of course not. PC aside, the better looking, better performing version of the game is the way to go. Since this criteria rarely applies to the Switch version of most games (and I'm being generous here), the Switch's only charm is first party and/or exclusives. I drive, so playing on the go is a non-issue for me. I would try, but my insurance premiums might go through the roof. |
That is basically my situation where people go all gaga on the portability and I just see as something irrelevant to me, I can't play on commute since I drive. On the work I can only do quick play on cell at most, and at home I rather use the TV so no space for a HH even though I own DS, 3DS, PSP and PSVita.

Yes, you bashed the price point of Switch but ignored on purpose it used a small mobile chip then compared it to the newest, biggest home console which is $500. Yeah, sound right. I don't see you criticize Vita price when it is near $300 and still way weaker than ps3, 540p is not even HD. Why don't you criticize Sony for drop vita support as well as keep vita games in JP while ps4 games were bring to the West and don't have any intention for the next successor of vita? All my favorite series are on Nin systems, in other words, all are Nintendo first/second party games, of course, i support them because i don't want them disappear, the other games on other systems, not so much. I play them because curious, i only play a bit and then leave it, why waste money for games i have no desire to finish? They can sell amazing or fail then die off, meaningless to me |
You weren't even on this thread when Vita was a thing and this thread isn't even about Vita, so why would I be talking about it? But in case you want to know, I paid 50 bucks for my PSVita mainly to use as my second controller and try out remote play. You can guess I'm not satisfied with the performance and bought another controller (guess what, same price as the Vita). Almost every single person in this forum criticizes Sony for not supporting Vita, again off-topic, your point?
We can see how much love you have for anything outside of Nintendo, still a criticism against Nintendo isn't a personal attack against you nor is even a bash, you are just to emotionally attached to it to even see.
Nintendo launched and market Switch as a console that is portable, so it effectively launched at 300 USD being weaker than X1 and PS4 while costing 50-100 USD more at the time it launched so that is a big issue when we are discussing the topic on the thread. And that is where the apologies come from, "but it is a HH" to deflect the performance and "but it is a console" to deflect the price, while in reality it have the pros and cons of being both and someone liking or not the proposition is tied to he valuing more the pros or disliking more the cons. Still the defensiveness come from people trying to over value the pros and deny the cons.
