Dont seem possible at this point. At this time last gen Sony had already made  massive corrections, 1.5 years later they announced the PS4 at the peak of the PS3 turn around.

I think MS believe they can just start fresh next gen and therefor will enter next gen  with this current low/lazy output and people are gonna be excited, and they might be correct.

But i think their best bet is to make corrections now and go into next gen the way sony went into this gen, on a high off PS3, otherwise it might not pay off. Worked for nintendo with the Switch so i could be wrong, but at the same time MS dont have a Mario or Zelda.

I think Sony and Nintendo both did great jobs analyzing why their respective failures (PS3 and Wii U) and doubling down on where they were most successful. Sony caught heat for a high price and low game output. They spent the majority of last gen investing in First Party Development and by the time we came to the PS4 everyone had some sort of experience or trade mark game on the PS4 that gave them freedom and leverage.

Nintendo held back on launching Killer IPs on the Wii U and saved it for the Switch launch.

Microsoft is just...there.

I didn't know ps3 was a failure, It did bad in its first years but thought it was ok, it ended selling more than the Xbox 360
