The truth is the one household device to rule them all , that Bill Gates feared when he learned that PS2 would have multimedia capability  has flown the coop, so today there is no imperative to take them down  a peg ,or play a wrecking role , the fact is unlike Sony who under the world wide studio's banner encouraged their studios to make new IP's,  with the knowledge that every hit subsidises around 7 games, that regardless of whether their  critical scores are high or low lose money or just  break even and Sony see that cross game subsidy being ploughed back into more games allows them to have a larger and more diverse Ist party portfolio, not just in numbers but types and sizes of games.

While continuing popular series is important having your 1st party studios also looking ahead to new ideas adds to the creative mindset of the studios ; and that is something that MS could look at encouraging their successful studios to also workshop ideas for future games  now the majority will fall by the wayside but you can end up with an Horizon and you will find the process gets better the longer it's allowed to unfold , take bungie what would have happened if MS said set up some groups to do future game prototyping while finishing off Halo Reach, like Guerilla did while making Shadowfall there might have been a chance that events played out different.

You never know, but if XB had let Bungie create Destiny, based on how Destiny is doing at this point in time, it wouldn't be much better than things are now for XB anyway, so. This could be part of the reason XB wouldn't allow it, because of the possibility of failure and wasted input costs, but it may also simply be that based on so many recent cancelled games, that MS feels growing XB first parties and IP is an unnecessary cost to accomplishing the overall goal.

Watching how things have played out so far for XB, reminds me of dating. If the girl ends up liking you, she typically will mimic things about you to not only show interest, but create connections that would be meaningful to you. Most of the time however, over time, you end up finding out it's mostly BS, and she's really not into most of those things, and is different than you've come to know, and not exactly on the same path as you are. That is what I see with XB at the moment. They slowly set up their console mimicry, only to then show their true colors, which is not the typical console path, beyond just innovation.

Too many companies use titles, brands, entire sectors, etc, to gain entry into a market, only to end up changing things completely, to accomplish their goal. While you can't know exactly if this is what XB is doing, it most certainly is a possibility. Trying to hold PS back in terms of first and third party exclusives is not only extremely expensive, but almost a lost cause. This has also led to the slow loss of strong third party support and marketing for XB1. Using online and services to do so now, is another story however, since that battle is less decided and still ongoing.

It could be that XB is simply lost and trying to find their way, but based on many of their decisions over the years, after seeing other companies already make some of those bad decisions, it's just hard to believe that it's all just stupid mistakes.

How exactly? The third party support is more robust than its ever been.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
