https://www.pcgamer.com/battletech-story-trailer-talks-totalitarian-regimes-mercenary-companies-and-civil-war/
The game's latest trailer is story-focused. Here's franchise creator Jordan Weisman, studio manager Mitch Gitelman and game director Mike McCain on Battletech's civil war, totalitarian regimes, and how players are encouraged to craft their own tales in-game.

Solve lovely-looking puzzles as a pen-and-paper samurai in Inked
https://www.pcgamer.com/solve-lovely-looking-puzzles-as-a-pen-and-paper-samurai-in-inked/
Inked, an upcoming puzzle game from developer Somnium Games, has two protagonists. The obvious one is the Nameless Hero, a rogue samurai on a quest for his love Aiko. The other is Adam, the comic book artist who drew the Nameless Hero. "Together they will embark on a journey that will forever change them both," its Steam page reads. The pen-and-papers visuals aren't just for show, then. It sounds like the story is actively being drawn as you play it, which is pretty neat.

Monster breeding RPG Monster Crown looks like build-a-Pokémon
https://www.pcgamer.com/monster-breeding-rpg-monster-crown-looks-like-build-a-pokemon/
Jason Walsh and Shad Shwarck, the two halves of Studio Aurum, grew up playing games like Pokémon and wishing that they had more involved, realistic taming and breeding systems. So, in February 2016, they decided to make their own breeding-centric monster game: Monster Crown. Two years and change later, the duo's now turned to Kickstarter to fund their expanded vision. And it looks like it'll work out: at the time of writing, Monster Crown's campaign has earned $4,294 of its $5,000 goal and will run for another 28 days.

Accidentally save the world in 'classical' adventure game Unforeseen Incidents
https://www.pcgamer.com/accidentally-save-the-world-in-classical-adventure-game-unforeseen-incidents/
The setup for Unforeseen Incidents contains the most capital-A Adventure Game line I've ever heard: "Before he knows it, he finds himself in a fight for the future of humankind armed only with his trusty multi-tool." Inadvertently saving the world using a bunch of random doodads: bam, every adventure game ever.

Fortnite's Port-a-Fort grenades and Replay system are now live
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnites-port-a-fort-grenades-and-replay-system-are-now-live/
Port-a-Forties and the Replay system revealed last month are now live in Epic's mega-hit battle royale Fortnite, courtesy of the recently-rolled-out 3.5 update. The latest patch also opens the door to a new 50v50 Limited Time Mode, four new "Cyberpunk Heroes" and a bunch of neon-infused weapons in Save the World, login queue improvements, and changes to V-Bucks that will make them shared between PC, Xbox One, and mobile platforms.

Warcraft 3 goes widescreen in a new update
https://www.pcgamer.com/warcraft-3-goes-widescreen-in-a-new-update/
The Warcraft 3 update that hit the PTR in February (and yes, there's a Warcraft 3 PTR) is now fully live. The patch brings widescreen support to the 16-year-old game, with "bookends" added to the interface and black pillars in menus, plus expanded game lobbies and more team colors, and an impressive selection of bug fixes and balace changes.

Destiny 2's next expansion, Warmind, is coming in May
https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2s-next-expansion-warmind-is-coming-in-may/
The second expansion to Destiny 2 has been officially unveiled as Warmind, and it's scheduled to go live with new places, new heroes, and new enemies on May 8. There's no trailer yet, but Destiny 2 community manager David "Deej" Dague said that it's on the way. He even committed to a date.

Blizzard details how Hearthstone's updated Deathstalker Rexxar will work
https://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-confirms-how-deathstalker-rexxar-will-work-once-hearthstone-rotation-happens/
For those who haven't been following the saga, Deathstalker Rexxar is the Hunter hero card that lets you stitch two Beasts together to make a new Zombeast. Players had originally assumed that the selection of Beasts Deathstalker Rexxar picks from would always mirror those that were available as part of the eligible Standard card pool. That turned out not to be the case, with the trouble of translating combined Zombeast card text of wildly varying length being blamed by Blizzard. Cue community outrage.

PUBG's Savage map returns for second round of testing next week
https://www.pcgamer.com/pubgs-savage-map-returns-for-testing-next-week/
At one-quarter the size of Miramar and Erangel, PUBG's Savage map is its smallest battleground yet. Evan, Chris and Jody reckon this is a good thing—but you can decide for yourself when it returns to test servers next week.

EVE Online's spin-off FPS coming in 2018
https://www.pcgamer.com/eve-onlines-spin-off-fps-coming-in-2018/
Project Nova, the EVE Online spin-off FPS (a kind of spiritual successor to Playstation 3 exclusive Dust 514) was announced back in 2016 before disappearing behind the veil of development. With CCP laying off 100 people last year as it terminated VR development, the future of Project Nova seemed suspect. But during the opening ceremony of Fanfest 2018 in Iceland, CCP Games CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson announced that Project Nova is not only still in active development, it will be unveiled and "playable" in some form on PC later in 2018.

Thrones of Britannia lets you arrange divorce and murder untrustworthy allies
https://www.pcgamer.com/thrones-of-britannia-lets-you-arrange-divorce-and-murder-untrustworthy-allies/
Thrones of Britannia makes significant changes to the Total War formula, said Tom of the war series' first Saga spin-off earlier this year. As showcased in its latest feature spotlight, Thrones also lets you arrange the divorce of an untrustworthy ally before moving in for the kill. My goodness, wartime in 9th century Britain was dark.

Fortnite remains offline because of database trouble, no ETA on its return
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-remains-offline-because-of-database-trouble-no-eta-on-its-return/
Fortnite got Port-a-Fort grenades and a Replay system last night, but somewhere along the line it also suffered a database failure of some sort that caused problems for people trying to log into the game. Epic Games was forced to take it offline last night, and as of roughly 11 am ET today, there's still no ETA for its return.
