Sony will probably release the PS5 as soon as 7nm manufacturing is cheap enough to use for a low margins product.
Unfortunately 5nm development apparently ran into some serious trouble, so it may take several years before that is a viable alternative/has good enough yields, meaning that during that time frame advancements in computational power/efficiency will likely slow to a crawl.
