It's weird, because even as someone who's not really a big Nintendo fan, I find myself constantly thinking of one thing : How well would these Playstation characters fit into a brawler? And my mind always says : Not very well. In my mind, THIS is the biggest reason, along with the fact that Sony set themselves up for comparisons, that people look at All Stars this way. Nintendo already has a head start in that regard, because most of their franchises are cartoony and at least could loosely fit together.
However, when you look at characters like Snake, Cloud, Bayonetta, and others, you can see that Smash has found ways to work around this. So I absolutely think this game could pull it off. There's just more pitfalls to work around.
