what about knives? people stab each other so should we regulate knives?

Switchblade Knife Act.

Besides knives don't have the speed of cars or the distance of guns.

what about swimming? people drown often so should we regulate swimming?

Having lifeguards is a great way to regulate swimming.

sex? deadly stis exist so should we regulate sex?

Having available condoms is infinitely more realistic than regulating sex.

i mean this list could get infinitely long and ultimately at the end to make everything safe you'd have to lock everyone in a cell with a straight jacket

There's a lot of reasonable common sense on that list, unless someone can throw hundreds of knives a minute, hundreds of feet lol.

They have "No Lifeguard on Duty" signs, to indicate when you can't swim in certain places, and you can't swim, at all, without supervision.

There are laws against knowingly infecting people with STIs; it's true and very illegal!
