Kirby being good or not (or any other game) have nothing to do with metacritics, but for the life of VGC sub 80 points have been scuffed at. Metacritic won't ever be a good measure, for me it is at most usable when I can't really do a proper investigation before buying a game I don't know anything about and if metacritic is too low I'll avoid, and that is it.

No, sub-80 is only scuffed at because there are way better games available to play, that people don't bother with just average/decent games. For example I'm not going to touch sea of thieves. However, 7 is merely an average score. The claim that 80 is average and 70 is bad is pure bullshit, sorry to say.
