Are people still raving on about a game series that died years ago?.
Valve are still making games. They just aren't pulling Big 3 style marketing tactics and hype trains. They still have a few more titles other than the Dota 2 card game, as well as a few VR titles.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
