This makes sense tbh as I'm pretty sure this engine is going to not only be for Switch but for all their future platforms which are going to be hybrid platforms as well, think of it as having a dedicated engine for hybrid platforms. They'll distribute it now with the Switch to get developers on board so in future they'll already be familiar with the tools any future platform will require.
