Handhelds have been getting closer and closer to Home Consoles for some time. Compare Mario Kart Super Circuit to Double Dash, it's a huge leap. Now Compare Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8, they're a lot more similar.
It's also why I think peoples expectations for a true home console pokemon are going to be way too high. It's something people have wanted for a very long time, back when it would have made a huge difference. A true pokemon rpg on the gamecube couldn't be comparable to a gba game after all. But now... does a game released on the Switch have to be that different to the 3ds games?
There was a time when the gap was massive, that time has passed.
