I'm curious, was the discount from Amazon, Nintendo or both? Nintendo has always had the reputation of not lowering the price of its games

I'm assuming it was from Nintendo, several retailers (Best Buy, Target, Wal Mart) had Zelda for $44.99 and Odyssey for $48.99.
