Why don't you mention the compulsive desire in having the most powerful hw, the biggest resolution, the best performance to the other side? This is also a characteristic of smartphones industry, so it doesn't add up to your logic |
How is it a bad thing if consoles aim to have a decent hardware? What other factor should they focus on? They cost only about 400$ so how is the hardware centric focus even a problem? Good hardware allows developers to make better and more varied gaming experiences. I haven't noticed that people who play on their phones do it because the phones have "powerfull" hardware.
And then there is the focus on story and characters, which is even more important than graphics. Is that also a bad thing?
And saying that Nintendo games have better gameplay than SONY/Microsoft games is not true because several of their games have at least as good gameplay as Nintendos. (You didn't say that, but some others bring that up.)
SONY/Microsoft also have games that don't focus on realistic graphics. But there is not many Nintendo games that focus on realistic graphics and story and characters (with characters I mean mostly dialogue).
