Nintendo very specifically said the figures were for units sold not shipped in the report though. But didn't know about the digital part, that makes sense. 

As far as I nkow, Nintendo never gives sold through numbers, simply because they dont have the exact figures.They have always given, as far as I know, sold in numbers(shipped).

If they say anything about sold through, its usually a vague number, as in 7 million + or something of the sort.
