This kinda pisses me off. Why did they even announce it when they did with videos and everything?

Because they're Square and they do this every damn time.

It's symptomatic of a larger problem with Sony. They were able to steal the show at E3 2015 with FFVII Remake, Shenmue 3, No Man's Sky, Horizon:ZD, and the Last Guardian.

TLG was a relaunch of a game originally promised to PS3 owners. FFVII has yet to materialize, nearly 3 years late. Shenmue 3 was a kick-starter, also yet to materialize. Fans felt horribly let down and misled by No Man's Sky. Horizon was the only game released in a reasonable time frame that was also well received.

I don't know how many people are actually excited for Days Gone, but they've used considerable main stage time demoing that over the past few industry events, and now that's been pushed back to 2019.

There are obviously lots of great games to play on PS4 regardless, but I'm watching their events with a lot of skepticism now.

I think we're partly to blame for that. The biggest thing that wows people at trade shows are the demos for fantastic new projects, when we don't get that and only get the small incremental updates of known projects or demos of smaller projects that are likely to release soon, suddenly we talk about how their conference was a letdown. In response they get in a habit of taking risks by announcing projects without knowing what production will even look like, just because they know fans will talk about it, and that improves their brand recognition.
