Why would you buy a console that's outdated in just three years? The lifespam of consoles should last as long as possible, to to make the most out of the existing hardware and to show a decent jump in technology instead of a small upgrade when the next generation comes out. And sales-wise, Sony would want to sell the PS4 to as many people as they possibly can before moving on, to maximize profits. |
So you think there are people out there who think about buying a PS4 and then don't buy anything because Sony just released a better model? So that poor guy will have to not ever play video games again. How does that logic work?
If PS5 actually releases in 2019 it won't make the PS4 suddenly obsolete. The PS4 has been out by then for more than 5 years and will still receive games for at least another year or two. How is 7 years of lifetime for a gadget bad? So bad that people will not buy anything from that brand ever again?
Is that why people never buy phones, TVs or PC hardware? Because they release upgrades every year? The release cycle of consoles is already a complete joke compared to any other technology. Couldn't it be that maybe it wouldn't hurt the console business at all if there if there was more competition in the form of regular upgrades?
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
