If Konami did nothing wrong, then there's nothing to protect. It can only damage Kojima's image if he provides false information without proof. 

What Konami does want to protect is details on how they treated Kojima during the development of MGSV, therefore not allowing him to big conventions with lots of media coverage. 

Depending on the terms of closure of employment even with proofs he can't say anything publicly and let's not pretend Konami have done a very good job at people management as multiple sources disagree.
