While violent crime is down nearly half from the 90s, gun ownership has not double since the 90's....in fact, it's gone down since then.

To be fair he said the amount had doubled , so there could be the situation where less households own guns but those that have increased their gun numbers to the extent that they made up for the decline, also we don't know what guns he's talking about it could include the armed forces police , it would help if he linked us to that info.

The other thing to think about is crime  fluctuates and can go up or down depending on factors like increased policing, you can't just attribute it to gun ownership.
