The Sega CD's attach rate was 7.3%. PSVR sits at around 2.7%. The choices made between 1994 and 1996 were the reasons Sega dissolved. Sega CD and 32X were fuck ups but didn't really cost them anything because they were just attachments to a popular main console. People could just ignore them and play Genesis etc. It's why PSVR won't end up hurting Sony. You can ignore it and enjoy a beast of a console. |
I didn't ask about attach rate, I asked if 32X they sold 2M HW and 10M SW. You gone to SegaCD instead and even with it you got to a little above 2M sales (which PSVR got in it's first year and will keep growing).
The choices which included confusing the market and making meaningless accessories helped killing Sega, which doesn't seem like will happen to Playstation.
So sorry, it isn't even remotely similar cases. You comparison failed.
