Switch is doing quite well right now despite a lack of new large scale releases. I do hope, however, that Nintendo has compelling larger-scale games ready for 2018 so that they can keep the momentum going (if they do not, then I fear not only for their 20 million goal but also for their ability to maintain their current momentum). In addition, ideally, they should also have a plan ready to reduce the system's price once Sony and MS do a permanent price cut (which at this point seems inevitable), in order to keep the system competitive this year.

Honestly, 20M units doesn't sound at all like a realistic target unless the Switch's performance starts skewing far more in favour of NA/EU rather than Japan because going by the recent media create numbers the Switch is starting to noticeably fall behind the 3DS ... (for January 2012 the 3DS did 500K while in 2017 the Switch did around ~300K)

Switch only has a moderate advantage over the 3DS in NA on a weekly basis so far ... (NA/EU will really have to pick up the slack for the Switch's performance in Japan)

As for Sony it's time for a price cut to $249 ...

That is the thing. Switch is performing much better in the west than the 3DS. Which is why 20 million isn't unrealistic.
