Gameplay is inferior to future iterations but given that its on PS1 its quite an achievement. Boss battles are the best part of MGS games, although MGS2 disappointed a bit on this front. |
I agree...Part 3 brought the boss fights back with a vengance. I don't think 4 will top 3's boss fights... I don't know yet as I'm half way through Shadow Moses in 4 but nothing thus far can compete with any of the boss fights in 3. The sniper one in prat 3 is just like...another gaming dimension. |
I really enjoyed the first boss battle in MGS4 The Octopus but I have to say that Raging Raven was a letdown... I think Drebin points really detract from the boss battles in this game (at least they have so far). Since the rest of the game is so easy, I don't use any points during the mission and when a boss rolls around, I just stock up on every high-powered boomstick I can find and kick their ass. We'll see how the third boss goes... I'm at that point in the game right now. |
Possible spoiler question: In MGS4 does anyone know if it matters killing the bosses with a bullets or those darts that make them sleep? After the girls lose their gear and just start walking towards you wanting to hug you, you need to put them down... Does anyone know if I'll miss out on anything if I blow them up or if I have to put them to sleep? |
Good question... I would like to know this, too. My strategy is generally "shoot first, don't ask questions... ever" so I would like to know if I'm missing out on something.
