Meh - meh, no matter the connections, if they want to make a 3rd game it can be done fairly easily just like how this one was done. There are a number of lose plot strands that can be picked up and reconfigured into another game. The franchise has proven successful and this point it isn't a question of if but when.
The potential connections between multiple games are nice but are a luxury in the grand scheme of things.
