It's exactly the same reason SOny ditched the WipEout games now. At least we have all that is beautiful of WipEout on the PS4 in remaster form.

I think it's relative. It's the fact that they want to sell millions and the games don't do that.

But it can be easily profitable if they go with a mid range or indie project. Again, Shin'en proves that it's perfectly doable. If they can do it with 5... I'm sure Sony and Nintendo can do with a bit more and still make a good profit and expand their IP's.

 

It's sad to say, but Wipeout is the last of the Psygnosis IP's and Sony isn't any better than Microsoft and EA for wasting such great IP's and closing the studios. It upsets me how companies only seem to be interested in the big bucks and nothing else. It is important to have a range of scope on your product offerings. Have small and mid range projects that are successful can easily soften the blow of a failed big project. This all or nothing stance is really lacking vision.
