A lot of people go into politics to become public faces and rise up in the ranks, and since they want to stay in the game, they'll do whatever it takes to stay. That usually means to give in to corporations because otherwise they'll dig up dirt to destroy politicians on a personal level. The result is that it's common that the strictness of laws becomes more relaxed, that new laws get postponed indefinitely or that new laws are only token gestures because they have easy loopholes. |
