In my Intel Build I will certainly pick a dedicated GPU. I'm not a big fan of port extension cards blocking PCIE ports in general. If I need it I think I got a SATA extension lying around somewhere which I could use just for migration. But I could just do the migration over LAN to spare me the hassle. Not gonna make a difference if the transport takes 2 or 3 days.

Right now I'm looking for digital PSUs, but apparently nothing has been done in that field for the past 2 years. At least not in low power PSUs. So I'm kinda miffed at that.

Oh, you are only putting four HDDs in the system.

If all you are doing is moving the data, then yeah: go over ethernet.
It would probably only take about 2 - 2.5 hours to transfer a TB that way.

It would really be nice to have the flexibility of a 5th port. My current mITX board has 6 and it was awesome. Since the SPC will also have the role of the spare PC in case my GPC goes down it would be cool to have an additional port to backup stuff from one of the SSDs. But I guess something like USB to SATA adapters exists in such a case.

Can't wait to come home and check up on my old build to see what I can do with it. Then I should be able to finalize the Intel design tomorrow.
