So - EA would only sell for value reflective of their multiplatform sales of these games, but MS could never extract that value fully.

On the other hand, they could use their significant developer base to make all other IP and future IP exclusive, while keeping SW and Fifa games multiplatform. But thats a lot of value they have to pay for and immediately give up.

Given the Battlefront 2 debacle, EA may be unlikely to retain that licence anyway

I think that will depend very much on what happens with the big re-vamp they have promised in a month or two.
