Well, sooner or later they had to upgrade those PS2 era graphics anyway. The new engine is not only an investment in Monster Hunter World but also in future MH titles for PS4, Switch, etc.

 

I think Capcom will be happy with what seems to be healthy growth in the West.

Yep, just as they kept reusing assets with the handheld version, they are going to get the most out of these console assets too.  This was a long term investment that they will get return on for years to come.
