So Bioware ruins two of their games franchises, multiple projects, and the internet's response is "it's just EA" ? I mean, I can at least understand DICE because even though their games are pretty meh, people love them and only dislike the EA portion of the deal. But so much of Bioware's controversy are things that may or may not be the fault of the publisher. I have a very hard time believing that all of it, or even a majority of it, is EA's fault. Bioware has had a lot of failed projects, let's not kid ourselves. It's open to interpretation, that being said, I won't lie : It gets pretty annoying to see almost no responsibility placed on the developer ... Edit: I shouldn't say "two of their game franchises" because there will always be that one person that says Bioware is still quality because they made one game that people liked in six years .... |
How about some concrete examples? Not sure what you're talking about here honestly. Dragon Age inquisition was a critically acclaimed and well loved entry into the franchise and Mass Effect 3, controversial ending aside is generally agreed upon to be not a bad game before said ending happened.
Because if you're talking about Mass Effect Andromeda, EA forced the project on an unexpierienced team in order to proiritize Anthem within Biowares A-Team, Anthem being a game that was most certainly a custom-order destiny-killer by EA. Then they proceded to cut funds and rush development on Andromenda and proceded to push it out of the gate unfinished only to turn around and kill the studio that made it.
If you think the studio has any actual say in this you're at best very naive, when it comes to the way certain publlishers operate. Even if you think somehow all of EAs studios are just running wild and just doing whatever the fuck they want, it isn't a good look for EA and just spells incompetence all over again.
Also EA has a long and storied history of doing this. When you have 13+ dead studios under your belt, you have systemic issue, not a few rouge studios. Not sure what you're trying to achive by calling 'good-guy EA' here. It just isn't the reality of the situation.
