Should have been 8 teams per division, single round robin, top of the division wins the trophy and bottom is relegated. Would have made for an interesting tournament. I think of it the same way I think of annualized sequels. If there's a video game franchise I love, I like it when they release games a few years apart because then I get more excited as less is more, but as soon as they start releasing a game every year I will lose some interest in it. What I liked about international football is that it was one of the few sporting events that didn't happen every year, it was really the most exciting thing. But now to me it feels like an annualized sequel just like every other sporting event.
