For me, it's the first game that really had the "Resident Evil" feel since the first one (and REmake and Resident Evil O). That feeling of fear, puzzles, and exploration just wasn't there for 2,3, and Code Veronica. 4,5,&6 we're all good in my opinion and an evolution that needed to happen because the original style had gotten too stale. I never felt fear aside from the intro in RE4, though. No puzzles, either (aside from some RE5 DLC).
I love the series as a whole. I'm currently playing RE Revelations 2 on the Switch even though I beat it on Xbox One when it first released and RE7 is light years better than the Revelations games.
