Well people seem to love it but the issue still is that hardly anyone buys it. 3 million in 2017?

Yeah it definitly has a slow start.

But dont forget the hurdles to get into current VR are very high. You need a high end pc or Playstation to get into real VR. Thats ALOT of money for a brand new technology.

I think the time VR really takes off will be when standalone headsets with good quality and great content are available, but we arnt there yet.

Also its often a thing of perspective. Sure 3 mio looks not so great compared to 19 Mio sold PS4 is 2017. But 19 Mio Sold PS4 doesnt look good in comparison to 270 mio sold iPhone either, right ?

Sales of products actually arnt really connected with the quality of products. Its just one part. Stuff like marketing and just adaption, support and general opinion are relevant at well. People buy the playstation 4 because they know what they get, because their friends have it, because its popular. VR isnt yet there. Stuff like Tvs and Pcs and even smartphones didnt sold incredible well in the first years either. The iPhone is currently selling more units in 10 days then it did in its first year.

We are in a time where maybe 20 or 30 Mio people on this earth actually even tried VR at all. Give it time, let the technology mature. Im sure we will see higher sales in the near future (cant see it going away, to many people already loving it way to much).

VR sometimes get compared with stuff like kinect or move or whatever but we shouldnt forget, there were never people as passion about those stuff as people are about VR.

BTW:

Selling 2 Mio PSVR if you just have 70 possible buyers (PS4 owners) isnt actually as bad as it sounds. How many PS4 owners have bought a iPhone in 2017? More or less then 2 Mio ?
