The PS4 is pretty balanced with Q1+Q2+Q3 vs Q4 (WW shipments) . 12 vs 6.6, 9.4 vs 8.4, 9.7 vs 9.7, 10.4 vs >6m

It largely depends on games and PS4 Pro though.

Swith will be similar with 7.63m vs ~7.5m.

XB1 however I don't believe is balanced at all with its recent performance vs XB1X and price cut boost.

Well that's the thing. I remember back during the Wii days the HD twins' ratio to holiday to non-holiday months were lower. The holiday boosts weren't high for them. Looking at this chart

You can see from this that PS4 and PS3 sales are practically identical in Non-holiday months. Yet when you reach the holiday season the difference is very large in favor of the PS4. When you compare the holiday ratio with the Switch it just proves my point. Nintendo systems have always sold really well on the holidays. That''s been the case forever. What surprises me is that the PS4 and Xbox are now following the trend as well. Could it be due to all the holiday deals? I think so.  When you can save $100 on a system just by waiting until the holiday season one must wonder what is the point of buying a system in a non-holiday month.

Not identical at all in the first year a bit bigger in 3rd. Then in its 2nd year PS3 is down yoy vs the PS4 peaking during the holidays which are both pretty abnormal.

Of course the deals matter, as well as PS4 Pro, big games like Destiny bundle, competition, official price cuts, and of course stock issues. The Wii had strong holidays but would have had strong non holidays months had it not been for the stock issues.

Overall I still think it is pretty balanced for PS4 and not so much for XB1.
