With the difference that kinect actually didnt really made gaming better in most cases nor wasnt a new way to play or the "future of gaming".
I dont think it has to happen. VR needs to grow very heavily the next 2 years to make sony even considering doing somthing like that and it can and most likely will be a success anyway. If sony will be a big part of the vr future? we will see. Maybe oculus, vive or somebody we dont even know that will be.
