You purchase the television you want with the contrast ratio, refresh rate, and resolution you want while not having the burden of a VR set on your head while having full view of everything without having to turn your head in a limited field of view.  How is that NOT better?

Easy:

1. We talk about future VR headset. FOV wont be limited. It will just look like reality

2. Modern VR headsets will have the same best contrast ratio, refresh rates, resolution like TVs

3. VR headsets wont be "clunky" anymore (they arnt even extremly clunky currenlty). It will still be much easier to use them and you likely wont even/barely notice them

4. You can still have a full view of everything

hopes that helps.

No, it doesn't because I view console gaming as an overt lifestyle with all the factors I mentioned that plays an important part in my purchasing decisions.  I can always put on a nice set of headphones when watching a movie or listening to music to not disturb those around me.  But I would prefer to have the movie's audio freely bounce around a surround sound system while I feel the vibrations of that audio.  The same goes for music.  I'm not just listening with my ears, but I'm also feeling the music while sometimes sharing that music with others.

Part of my REALITY is playing games, and I present that reality to myself and others with the highest quality hardware that I can reasonably and practically afford.  It's NOT virtual.  All of this validate's my previous points because I want to sit back or lay around how I want and enjoy the immersion that my hardware produces that I bought into.  You cannot always do that with VR.  You are at the physically mercy of VR that can and have deterred  the experience from more conventional and quality means.
