I personally don't mind washed out and low quality textures when the rest of the image and edges are sharp. Though it might become problematic if you can count the polygons in a frame on one hand.
That bridge in the first image looks like lifted straight from a PS3 game.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
