Xbox 5

Even though their next system will be their fourth true console, they will retroactively call Xbox One X a system that succeeded the original Xbox One and will finally give Microsoft the ability to name a system with the same number behind it as Sony with their PlayStation. They couldn’t call Xbox 360, Xbox 2, because too many people would automatically find it inferior to PlayStation 3 based off of its number. Xbox 5 vs PlayStation 5, however, gives Microsoft an equal chance in terms of name/numerical power. If it’s equal to or slightly more powerful than PS5, Microsoft will stand a chance at beating Sony.

Of course, if those two companies “only” make standalone consoles, both seeing release in November, 2020 and Nintendo releases a Nintendo Switch beefy successor in March, 2021, I could see Nintendo winning that generation. A lot depends on just how well NS goes for Nintendo in these next few years, but I definitely could see that a more advanced Nintendo Switch could wind up being the overall platform of choice.

We shall see.
