nope. PS4pro and XB1 are not gen 8.5. they only thing that differs from them and older models is that they are packing more power. they are playing the exact same games. they are on the exact same OS and network. Same controllers. everything is the same. just more powerful. how !any games does the NS share with the WiiU? how many will it share by the end of it's life? with the PS4pro/XB1x, it's the exact same library. you don't have to buy a PS4pro to play horizon. you have to buy a NS to play arms or Mario though....

Then explain me why NECs TurbographX 16 and SupergraphX are 2 different gens, despite the SupergraphX only being a TurbographX on steroids and could read and play the exact same games and peripherals? Or the Gamecube and the Wii? Granted, the latter could do some more things, but everything the GC could to, the Wii could do it, too. So no, just being more powerful without changing the rest doesn't mean it has to be the same gen

coukd the GameCube play the Wii games?

to be the same gen then the hardware and software has to be forward and backward compatible. basically. there is only one PS4 library. doesn't matter if you are  playing it on the pro or the base console.

and with your other example? I don't know why they did that. but because some people did some shit ages ago doesn't make it right. let's use common sense here. why should two separate hardware's that can't both play the same games library be grouped in the same generation of consoles just cause they are from the same manufacturer. And of course ignoring they are 4 years apart.

the NS isn't an upgraded wiiu it's a whole entirely new platform.
