Friday news, part two and last for the week:
PUBG players respond to BP apology with demand for Chinese region lock over cheating
http://www.pcgamer.com/pubg-players-respond-to-bp-apology-with-demand-for-chinese-region-lock-over-cheating/
PUBG Corporation has issued an apology for problems with the distribution of the in-game currency BP following the full release of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds in December, and promised that players who were shortchanged will be taken care of. Based on the responses, however, the BP flub isn't what players are worried about.
SOS, the social survival game, will release on Early Access later this month
http://www.pcgamer.com/sos-the-social-survival-game-will-release-on-early-access-later-this-month/
What sets SOS apart from other multiplayer survival games is its built-in social element: Players can talk to one another freely through a proximity-based chat (a microphone is required to play) and spectators can listen in on those conversations and throw out emotes in response. It's not the last player standing that counts, then, but the most entertaining—although as we learned in our December preview, a creative killer instinct is obviously a plus. It's been in closed testing for awhile now, but Outpost Games announced today that it will go into Early Access release on Steam on January 23.
Spanish government approves $7.8 million grant for indie devs
http://www.pcgamer.com/spanish-government-approves-78-million-grant-for-indie-devs/
Last week, Àlvaro Nadal, Spain's minister of energy, tourism and digital agenda, cancelled a €2 million ($US2.4 million) grant—which would have been used to fund the country's independent game developers—for unspecified reasons. As it turns out, a bigger grant was the main reason for its cancellation: as reported by Polygon, today the Spanish government approved €6.5 million ($US7.8 million) in indie funding.
>>I told you they had backtracked.
Seedy vampire RPG Vampyr is getting a deep-dive video series
http://www.pcgamer.com/seedy-vampire-rpg-vampyr-is-getting-a-deep-dive-video-series/
Vampyr is a narrative-driven RPG about vampires from Life is Strange creator Dontnod. As game director Philippe Moreau told us last summer, it's built around player choice and the conflict between protagonist Jonathan Reid's duty as a doctor and his blood-sucking nature. Ahead of Vampyr's delayed release, Dontnod plans on exploring these and other themes in a video series appropriately titled "Dontnod presents Vampyr."

http://www.pcgamer.com/ela-nerfed-again-in-the-rainbow-six-siege-mid-season-reinforcements-update/
The Rainbow Six Siege patch 4.2, also known as the Operation White Noise Mid-Season Reinforcements, is now live on the technical test server. The update nerfs Ela, with reductions to her SMG magazine size from 50 rounds to 40 and also to the effects of her concussive mines, which will still reduce the movement speed of enemies caught in their impact zone but will no longer disable sprinting.
Celeste gets a solid release date and a nine minute gameplay video
http://www.pcgamer.com/celeste-gets-a-solid-release-date-and-a-nine-minute-gameplay-video/
Austin reported earlier this week that Celeste, a new action platformer by the creators of Towerfall Ascension, would release in January. At the time, it was anyone's guess when in January, but during today's Nintendo Direct presentation a release date of January 25 was confirmed (and yes, naturally, that includes the PC version).

Bandai Namco on Dark Souls PC remaster: 'There is no discount'
http://www.pcgamer.com/bandai-namco-on-dark-souls-pc-remaster-there-is-no-discount/
Despite what you might have heard online yesterday, it appears owners of the original Dark Souls will not be in-line for a 50 percent discount of Dark Souls: Remastered via Steam.
That's according to a spokesperson from publisher Bandai Namco who, when asked about the possibility of reduced rates for existing PC players, said: "I have been told it is the same price for all platforms. There is no discount."
