You have a strange definition of being competitive. So Nintendo which sold 12 million consoles against 20m+ PS4s is not competitive as well it seems. In my opinion being competitive means that your rivals pay attention to what you do and don't act like you are no threat to them. Right now for me it doesn't look like Sony ignores Xbox so they are being competitive. Not being competitive is something like every console manufacturer was during PS2 era

But the thing is that the switch sold that cuz it was all that was produced, would there be ore switches, it could have done some damage. The switch has games to look forward to this year which excite gamers, the switch is a different playing experience. So a bunch of things ps4 does not have or cant do. So they can be competitive by offering different things and different ways to play. The xbox is a carbon copy of the ps4, but the ps4 has a huge list of games not playable elsewhere, and not just quantity but better quality than the xbox. The only benefit of the xbox is that the x is a bit stronger than the pro, but more expensive. Its a no brainer that the ps4 has no competition from the xbox. it will show in sales next year, as the xbox has peak in 2017 while the ps4 will probably e up in 2018.

I think we will see about it more this year. I highly doubt that Switch can sell on PS4 levels just because it doesn't get all the mainstream games that PS4 gets, so the target of selling 20 million consoles this year will be pretty tough to achieve. Though I personally would like to see Switch  selling at least PS4 levels or even better it most definitely won't happen.
