Xbox's lack of compelling games won't be fixed in 2018 [Endgadget]

You are pretty much recycling the same argument here.

However, 30+ million gamers found some sort of incentive to buy an Xbox One, that's the facts, having a few people being regretful of their purchase decision doesn't change that fact.

 

I disagree for one specific thing that seems to be overlooked.  Gamers follow exclusives.  That's normally the incentive of why anyone chooses the console they choose to purchase.  It's not the call of duties, or gta's that people associate with which console they will buy.. You buy Xbox because of the Halo's, the Gears, etc.. Just like you would buy PS4 for the God of Wars, Uncharted, etc.   You bought the console because those exclusives can only be played on that console.   Multiplats are irrelevant because those can be played via other means.

That is my point with this post.  Xbox exclusives are no longer Xbox exclusives 3 years in current gen.  The majority of that 30 mil are year 1-3 buyers who went with xbox because the exclusives lined up with their preferences from prior gens... but to now know a few years into gen 8 that you didn't need an xbox anymore to play those games..  MS basically killed the main incentive of investing in their console in the first place. Would those gamers of still chose the xbox route had they known this would happen?  If I can play MS games on my PC, multiplats on my PC and PS4, and PS4 exclusives on PS4 only, then why would I ever consider needing an Xbox?  There's more incentive for me to pick up a Switch.  And then to add, there's been a serious drought of MS AAA exclusives  and new IPs (0 xbox only since 2015) compared to your competitor.

Halo defined OG xbox.  Gears defined the 360.  What will define the x1 when all is said and done?  I just must not see it.. the logical reason for anyone to move towards Xbox at this point.  I feel that maybe those that did initially (those year 1-3 buyers that make up the majority of userbase, incentive and all) got gypped.
